My Thoughts on the Movie
I must confess I'm probably one of the few people who hasn't seen the Muppet show. I wasn't even alive when it originally aired, and I never have seen
it on TV. My only experience of the Muppets, was the Muppets Christmas Carol (My Favourite version of the classic story), so when a new Muppets film
was announced, it only took one viewing of the trailer for me to go and see it.
Walter: You guys give the world the greatest gift of all.
Kermit: Babies?
Walter: No. The other one.
Kermit: Ice cream?
Walter: No. The other one.
Kermit: Laughter.
Walter: Yes! The third greatest gift!
Despite only seeing it a few days ago (it only came out in February here in the UK), its certainly one of the funniest films I have seen in a few years.
If you thought that the Muppets were assigned to the history books, then think again - the Muppets are back in action! And as green as ever... (well
Kermit is anyways!)
Walter: You're my hero... you're on my watch.
In the film, three of the Muppets biggest fans, Walter (Voiced by Peter Linz), Gary (Played by Jason Segel) and Mary (Played by Amy Adams), go to
Los Angeles to visit the Muppets studio, hoping to meet the Muppets. However, when they get there, its run down and the Muppets have gone their
separate ways. After discovering a plan to destroy the old Muppets theatre for oil, Walter must convince Kermit and the gang to get back together
and put on a show, to raise the money to buy the theatre.
Miss Piggy's Receptionist: She has an opening in early September.
Walter: Early September? But that's in six months!
Fozzie Bear: That's nothing. I once waited a whole year for September.
The Muppets have been quite quiet in recent years, with no films or a tv show to keep them busy, with appearances on Youtube to keep them in the
public eye. One of the main things I like about this film how it mirrors the Muppets in real life, and this is a way to get the Muppets back in the
public eye again (the film and in the story). I'm really glad the movie has done really well criticality and at the box office, otherwise the story
of the film would have been a bit strange.
Gary: So you guys aren't getting back together?
Kermit the Frog: [sadly] No.
Mary: This is going to be a really short movie.
All your favourite Muppets are here, including (but not limited too) Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Walter, Gonzo, Animal and Pepe the
King Prawn. All your favourites do make appearances throughout the film, so this is really a tribute to all(?) of the Muppets that have appeared over
the years. All the voice actors return too, so its like they never left in the first place.
Statler: If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were reciting some sort of important plot point.
This film is also really funny. Sorry, did I mention that already? Well sorry about that, but it does re-confirm that I really found this movie great
watching. The 2 lead actors play a great role, but their love story is not over bearing, or does not take over the movie. It has its place in the
film - the Muppets are certainly the main focus. They also break the forth wall quite a lot in the film too.
Fozzie Bear: Wow, that was such an expensive looking explosion! I can't believe we had that in the budget.
So any problems? Well, not really. If you don't like sing-a-long songs, then make sure you get past the first part of the movie, as there is a few
songs back to back. Apart from that, your free to say the Muppets! Welcome to the Muppets show!
